Faithfulness comes when we hear the voice of the Lord and do what He says. So many people rely upon their own faithfulness and what they can do for God. Many people get caught up on being faithful it becomes part of their religion of works and performance. Rest in what Jesus did at the Cross and the faithfulness of His grace, listen to what He wants to do, not what you feel you need or have to or must do for the Lord!
Pro 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight
2 Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is freedom.
Performance is a stronghold that keeps us from walking in His grace. We can never perform for God’s gifts that have been freely given! It is not by our works we are saved, healed or financially blessed. When we remove the stronghold of performance His grace will prevail! We can then hear the voice of the Holy Spirit more clearly to be obedient to His Word.
This primarily includes our finances. The tithe has been taught for so many years. I have not discovered the exact reason or how the tithe got into the the church to mean that the Christian must fulfil Old Testament laws in order to be righteous and blessed. But plainly the tithe is not for the Christian.
It is not by our works that we are faithful. It is not by our works that we are financially blessed. It is only and only by what Jesus did at the Cross of Calvary the we are blessed.
2 Cor 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.
Our works out of spirit of performance mean nothing. But hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit and doing what He says, there is liberty. Let the Spirit of the Lord give you peace and liberty today over every area of your walk with the Lord.
– Revised Edit
In 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 Paul writes about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Faith is listed as a gift! God gives us faith to believe and trust in Him! Now we don’t even have to trust in our faith but the faith of God that He gives us!
